Airborne Training Center Hosts Media Visit: A Close-Up Experience of Paratrooper TrainingTo help the public understand the effectiveness of paratrooper training, the Ministry of National Defense invited media representatives to the Army Airborne Training Center for two days to film various training programs of the paratrooper unit, including Basic Parachute Training, VR Parachute Simulator, and Airborne Jump Training. The media was also given the opportunity to experience the challenging Tower Training course, which involves a 34-foot tower designed to test one’s fear of heights, providing a firsthand experience of the hardships and courage required for paratrooper training. This event also demonstrated the military’s achievements in Technology-assisted Training. The media traveled in the morning in C-130H transport aircraft to Da Sheng Xi Campsite, known as the "Home of Paratroopers," where they filmed soldiers undergoing basic parachute training. The training included five major stations: Parachute Landing Fall, Swing Landing, Aircraft Body Training, "Suspension Training," and Tower Jump Training. These stations allow recruits to build a solid foundation through a progressive, rigorous, and disciplined training process. Next, to showcase the results of the military’s Technology-assisted Training, the media visited the VR Parachute Simulator training. Using virtual reality combined with computer systems, sensors, and suspension devices, the simulator replicates various parachuting scenarios, including different types of parachute gear and jump situations. Training courses for basic parachuting, infiltration to groundwater at high altitude, and rough terrain jumps are set for different teams. This not only improves soldiers' reaction time in handling emergencies during jumps but also significantly enhances training safety. Airborne Training Center explained that after completing Basic Parachute Training and VR Parachute Simulator training, recruits will proceed with four daytime jumps and one nighttime jump. During this phase, they will apply the skills learned on the ground and familiarize themselves with jump procedures during actual airborne exercises. Once recruits complete five airborne training jumps from 1,250 feet, they will be awarded the Basic Paratrooper Badge, officially becoming paratroopers. Notably, the media was also invited to take part in the most daring ground training exercise for paratroopers—the Tower Training. Journalists took up the challenge eagerly, standing at the edge of the 34-foot high tower, the ultimate test of overcoming a fear of heights. After leaping from the tower, they loudly recited: "One second, two seconds, three seconds, four seconds, check canopy, check surroundings, prepare to land." The thrilling experience excited the journalists and further affirmed the results of the military's rigorous and intensive training program.2024/12/19

The Ministry of National Defense Promoted the Video of " Forewarned Is Forearmed ", Showcasing Strong Determination of R.O.C. Armed Forces to DefenseIn response to the recent large-scale assembly of P.R.C. naval forces, the Ministry of National Defense promoted today on social media the video "Forewarned Is Forearmed" produced by the Military News Agency. The video emphasizes that the R.O.C. armed forces keep building themselves, preparing for combat, and conducting actual combat exercises based on the enemy's situation and development. The Ministry of National Defense stated that the threat from the People's Liberation Army to Taiwan and the surrounding area has been continuously evolving since 2022, from "deterring Taiwan" to "impacting the First Island Chain." The current large-scale assembly of naval forces is evidence. The Ministry stressed that China's long-term goal is to intimidate every party in the surrounding area and undermine the international order based on rule, but it will not gain international recognition. Only if R.O.C. armed forces strengthen themselves, prepare for combat, and increase military power can we form alliances with like-minded countries and deter war. The video drew materials from the recent live preparatory exercise of R.O.C. armed forces. This exercise, conducted at a tactical location based on the threat posed by the enemy and considering weather conditions and other factors, demonstrated the confidence of the officers and soldiers in safeguarding national security while building capabilities and maintaining determination.2024/12/13

"The "Tianma Exercise" resorts to testing in place of training Enhancing the firing effectiveness of Tow MissilesNine units including anti-armor troops of the Army and Marine Corps continued to perform the "Tianma Exercise" mission at Fangshan Range in Pingtung this afternoon. Each unit resorted to "testing for training" and fired live rounds of new and old Tow Missile launch systems as a test of proficiency of firing procedures among servicemen as well as to enhance the firing effectiveness of precision weapons. The new "M41A7 ITAS Tow Missile Launch System" can be used to fire towed 2A and 2B missiles. It is equipped with features such as integrated handle control modules, laser infrared distance measurements, auxiliary aiming locks, and automatic detection function. All such functions can greatly improve the engagement and fast response capabilities of officers and soldiers, accurately lock on enemy armored units, and improve the firing target rate. The system can be vehicle-mounted or ground-mounted. For this exercise, it was mounted on a M1167 Hummer for testing. As pointed out by Captain Chan, an instructor from Army Infantry Training Command, since the M1167 Hummer is equipped with 190 horsepower, it boasts a maximum speed of 113 km/per hour. A new protective steel plate has also been added to the shooter's position, which can withstand shots from weapons less than 7.62 mm, while its car body is also strengthened with armor to endure weapons attacks of less than 12.7 mm.2024/08/27
